The United Methodist Church continues to dialogue and make decisions in regard to human sexuality, specifically related to the ways in which LGBTQ persons are included in our denomination. You can learn more about the history of these conversations through this presentation, shared at our congregational meeting on May 20th.
The UMC is praying, studying, and listening for the Spirit as potential changes to our denominational stance will be engaged at a called General Conference in February 2019. Along with our sisters and brothers across the connection, All Saints' is also committed to praying, studying, and listening for the Spirit.
Specifically, we are asking that each person at All Saints' commit to two things over the summer of 2018:
1. Pray, at least once a week, for the United Methodist Church, for All Saints' and for our ability to hear what God might be saying to us, using this liturgy.
2. Read one of the books or several of the articles listed on our Resource List.
This praying, studying, and listening will prepare us for conversations in the fall, where we will discuss human sexuality, and the various viewpoints that surround LGBTQ inclusion.
If you have questions, suggestions or feedback, we would love to hear from you. Please visit here and let us know what you're thinking!
Thank you for engaging these practices and for your commitment to having hard conversations with graciousness, gentleness and love.
